- Congratulations! Your senior year is an exciting milestone, and the Senior Advising team is here to support you as you complete your degree and prepare for life beyond SAS. SAS Advising will work with you from the summer before your final year through the certification of your degree. Throughout this time, we’ll keep you informed about important deadlines, your graduation status, and any issues that may arise. While we’re here to provide guidance, reminders, and advising, we encourage you to take an active role in your graduation journey. Meet with an academic advisor and consult your major and minor departmental advisors to make the most of your final year and ensure you're on track to graduate as planned.

How can I take more than 20.5 credits?
- Information
A request for credit override exception to 21 credits is considered only when a student is in their final semester and taking exactly 21 credits will allow a student to meet their minimum graduation requirements. Requests are reviewed on an individual basis, including evaluation of course composition, a full transcript review, and consideration of past performance.

How do I submit a Diploma Application?
- Information
All New Brunswick undergraduate students who anticipate finishing their degree requirements MUST apply online for graduation through the Office of the Registrar by a certain deadline. The Diploma Application allows you to specify your name, including suffixes and accents, and confirm the address to which your diploma should be mailed. Graduating students can submit their diploma application based on their graduation dates:
- JANUARY (end of fall/winter session) September 1 - January 15
- MAY (end of spring semester) December 15 - May 15
- AUGUST (end of summer session) April 1 - August 15

How do I submit a Senior Pass/No Credit Request for one of my courses?

Students who have completed 90 or more credits may take up to two courses (8 credits maximum, one course per semester) on a Pass/No Credit basis. Applications open the week of add/drop each semester. Click here for further information about the Senior Pass/No Credit Request.
Submission Deadline:- Fall Semester, September 30
- Spring Semester, February 20
- Six-week Summer Session, 10th calendar day after class begins
- Winter Session, Cannot request pass/no credit option

How will I hear about Senior information?

Once you are declared as a senior, we will communicate important information to you by email to your official Rutgers email address. This is a designated SAS Senior Year email list, that provides all communication regarding information you will need to know in your final year leading up to commencement. Review your class year's Canvas calendar for important dates and deadlines highlighted throughout the academic year. You are responsible for the information that is sent to you, much of which is time-sensitive or has firm deadlines. Please be sure to check your Rutgers email regularly and read messages thoroughly! I am changing my graduation date to August because I need a summer course to complete my degree. Can I still walk in May?

August candidates who have registered and paid for all remaining degree requirements in summer session are invited to participate or “walk” in University Commencement and SAS Convocation.

I need fewer than 12 credits to graduate. Do I need to be a full-time student?
- Information
No! Students in their final semester are permitted to register for only what is required to complete their degree. Please check with One Stop to review any financial aid implications of being less than full time.
- Part time registration, even when approved by exception, may impact non-academic areas such as medical insurance, financial aid and scholarships, on-campus housing, international student status, and NCAA eligibility. Please check any of these areas that may affect you.

You are expected to graduate once your degree requirements are complete; graduation date adjustments beyond what is needed to complete your degree will be denied.

You are not able to drop below 12 credits on webreg. Please log into LiveChat or email from your Rutgers email with the specific course(s) and index number(s) you wish to drop.
If you miss the drop deadline, you will be billed for the credits, even if you withdraw from the course(s).
